Directions to Horseshoe Bar Preserve
Horseshoe Bar Fish and Game Preserve is located near Foresthill, California on the Middle Fork of the American River just below Oxbow/Ralston Dam. Just one hour from Sacramento or two hours from the Bay Area, Horseshoe Bar offers true wilderness fly-fishing in this thousands of acres preserve in the American River Canyon Watershed.
- Take HWY 80 heading north to Tahoe. Take the Foresthill Rd exit heading east 17 miles to the town of Foresthill.
- When you reach Foresthill, there will be a Post Office and Wells Fargo Bank on the left side will be Mosquito Ridge Road. Turn Right on to Mosquito Ridge Rd.
- Drive exactly 7 miles and you will see a sign that says “Gorman Ranch Rd”. There will be a large turnout on the right to get to the gate.
- Close and lock the gate after entering. Drive down the dirt road approximately 1 mile. There will be signs directing you to the campground. Just follow the signs.
